International civil protection is an immediate assistance provided by the Finnish government in natural or man-made disasters or accidents all over the world. In Finland, participating in international civil protection missions is based on law. The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for Finnish preparedness and coordination of capacities.
Training and recruitment of experts from 2019 onwards
Based on a decision of the Ministry of the Interior, from 2019 onwards the training and recruitment of Finnish experts to international civil protection missions as well as the material preparedness will be the responsibility of Pelastusopisto (PeO). PeO is also partnering in many development projects aiming at improving not only Finnish but also European capacities in international civil protection.
Until 2019, The Crisis Management Centre (CMC) Finland was an operational actor within the Emergency Services College and responsible for training and recruitment of Finnish experts as well as material preparedness.
The personnel working with international civil protection issues within the CMC will be transfered to the Emergency Services College. Their email addresses will change into firstname.lastname@example.org, but the phone numbers will stay unchanged. In official matters, please contact email@example.com
