The Emergency Services Academy is a national educational institution and a government agency. The Academy strengthens the safety and security of society by providing vocational education, further training, and continuing professional education for rescue service and emergency response centre professionals. The Academy also provides preparedness training.
The Emergency Services Academy is responsible for the training system of contract fire brigade personnel as well as for the training, recruitment, and deployment of personnel to international civil protection operations. The Academy coordinates research, development, and innovation activities (RDI) in rescue services and maintains the rescue services’ central library.
The Academy complies with the values of the rescue sector in its operations and strives to ensure that the professionals it trains also commit to working humanely, professionally and reliably – and collaboratively.
Strategy, operational planning and monitoring
The Emergency Services Academy plans its activities in accordance with the annual performance targets. Operational performance targets are laid down in the performance target document between the Ministry of the Interior and the Emergency Services Academy.
